Used RV Close-up: 2006 Cedar Creek Silverback 29 LRLBS by Forest River

This double axle 5th wheel may look a little road worn but she can still handle herself on the highway. With a 4pt leveling system, battery disconnect and some large laminated underneath storage, the Forest River product has a lot to offer for a very manageable price.

Picture yourself hooked up out by the lake on a nice summer day. The A/C is keeping the living space chilled as you sip some lemonade under the hot sun. Pull out the awning for some extra shade and get the burgers off the grill. You’ll feel right at home as you and your family camp around the country making some memories.

When it gets a little too hot step back inside. Get in the middle of a camper that was designed the way they used to be. Back to how they were made famous. The patterned cloth on the couch has a touch of nostalgia, the booth dinette is the perfect spot to break out a board game before bedtime, and the residential ceiling fan whips up some fresh air as you sink into the recliners to relax.

The two slides the Silverback offers create enough space to feel comfortable hanging inside on a rainy day. You won’t feel cramped with all the legroom, plus there are windows that surround the whole camper so all of that natural light will give it an even greater open air quality. The bedroom offers bright wood and tall ceilings with individual lights and side tables. Have a lot of clothes and toiletries? We’ve got very deep cabinets, and lots of them. Check out this video for a closer look and a few more details..

Come on out to Holiday World of Katy if you get some time this afternoon. We’d love to meet you and show you around the unit.

Houston to Fort Worth – The Texas Speedway Road Trip

Blog

June 5th and 6th is a big weekend in the Lone Star State. Texas Motor Speedway will play host to the Winstar 400 and Firestone 600 races, Nascar and IndyCar respectively, with all of Texas scrambling to get seats in the massive 181,000 seat circle. Let’s take a trip with them and head from our beautiful city of Houston over to the track.

The first step – finding a trailer. We’ve got a couple bikes so we’re going to take the new Keystone Fuzion 403, it’s a Chrome Edition Monster Plus Package toy hauler that’s decked to the nines with a high quality paint and decal exterior, 12 foot garage, 5,000lb frame welded tie-downs in the garage and six G-rated tires to get us there safely. It even has a security camera in the garage to keep a close eye on whatever you’re packing.

The second step – finding a campsite. Check out Texas Motor Speedway’s camping accommodations and pick the perfect spot to plug in for the next few days. They’ve got VIP sites, Burnout Alley, infield, family oriented, outside, unreserved and tented options. If you can’t find what you need then just drive the prius and stay in a hotel.

All set? Now pack up the food, juice boxes and crew and let’s hit the road

The trip isn’t too bad at all, just about four and a half to five hours with a 5th wheel behind you. Once you get to the Ft. Worth area you can get all set up at the Speedway. TMS has contact info for generators, RV repair, water and restrooms. Don’t forget to fill your Fuzion 403 gas tank so inbetween the professional races you can take your own toys out for a spin. It’s a 12V pump, 30 gallon tank and static line. Everything you need to get gassed up for a crazy weekend.

After the weekend is up you can dump at the Speedway or check a list of local dump stations to clean out your tanks. Now hop back in your camper, throw on a pot of coffee and start counting down the days to your next family adventure.

The RV’ers guide to the Highway: Houston to Yellowstone National Park

Miles: 1,570

Time: 23h 26min

exterior1

Alright it’s time to pack up the RV and get the kids out of their rooms. Let’s leave Houston in the rearview and hit the blacktop for a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Summer is right around the corner and it’s the perfect time to get out there for an adventure. Stop by one of our Holiday World of Houston locations to stock up on what you’ll need (shameless plug) and then hit the road.

The following will be a makeshift itinerary for your trip:

First Leg: Houston to Fort Worth (Campsites)

This is about a 4 hour trip from our city over to theirs. That’s enough time in the car, time to stretch out the legs. While in Fort Worth it may be worth cooling off at Hawaiin Falls Water Park, a year-round adventure park the whole fam can enjoy. Or if it’s just you and your spouse stop in at one of the local art galleries for some A/C and classic prints.

(No need for hotels on this little excursion. That’s why we’ve got RV’s now.)

Second Leg: Fort Worth to Amarillo (Campsites)

Coming from Fort Worth we’re looking at another 5 hours on the road. It’s a fun little coincidence the number one tourist attraction in Amarillo is the Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum. Since you’re basically already driving around with one of their attractions hitched up behind you, you can skip this. Go from land to the sky and check out the Texas Air & Space Museum. This is a great little spot for the kids to see some cool stuff. If you’re going with some older teens or even if the young ones are the outdoors type, there are some good horseback riding tours around the area.

Third Leg: Amarillo to Pueblo, CO (Campsites)

Where the heck is Pueblo, CO… I know, I know. But there’s a National Forest there, San Isabel, that looks incredible. This part is about 4.5 hours, just a quick stop in the afternoon before you get over to Denver. Let’s take a break and sit outside for some lunch or a quick dip of the feet in their beautiful lakes.

Third (and a half) Leg: Pueblo to Denver (Campsites)

Two more hours and you’ll be in Denver, and wow there’s a lot to do. Between the hiking spots, restaurants, bars, etc., you may want to spend a couple days and enjoy the city. It’s baseball season so maybe a game over at Coors Field, get your culture on and check out the Denver Art Museum, or have a nice family day at the Denver Zoo.

Fourth Leg: Denver to Yellowstone National Park

The looong leg. And thankfully the last one. This is about an 8 hour trip or so but once you’re there, you’re there. Now you find a good campsite to plant your flag, some awesome hikes to explore the landscape and local stores to pick up your groceries.

Enjoy the trip, guys! We’ll keep coming out with some more adventure ideas through the next few weeks. Happy camping…
